You think you know the cut and carat, but the truth is there is so much more to consider and the process, especially online, becomes confusing.
That is not how designing your forever ring should feel.
At Cove Fine Jewelry, we've done the homework for you and have categorized diamond into one of three collections — Heritage, Signature and Coastal — so instead of memorizing a chart, you give us your specifications and we source the stone to ensure you are getting the right stone for your ring.

What to Know
Every diamond is graded on four things: cut, color, clarity and carat.
- Cut is how well a diamond's angles and facets are shaped to catch and reflect light. It's the single biggest factor in sparkle, and it matters more than any other C.
- Color is how close to colorless a diamond is, graded on a scale from icy-white to warm and golden. Diamonds range from icy-white to warm and golden, and just because a stone is whiter doesn’t mean it’s better.
- Clarity is how few natural inclusions (tiny internal marks) a diamond has. Most are invisible to the naked eye well before you reach the top of the scale.
- Carat is simply weight, not size — though the two are closely related. A well-cut diamond, and even shape, can look larger than its carat weight suggests.
Cove's Approach
Picking the perfect stone for your forever ring shouldn’t be a guessing game, and it’s the kind of decision we'd rather take off your plate. Instead of handing you a grading report and sending you off to decode it, our team — led by a master jeweler — hand-selects the color of every stone to suit the setting it's going into. No guesswork, no chart-reading required.
Here's how that plays out across our three collections
-
Heritage
Our rarest tier; reserved for diamonds with exceptional, colorless brilliance — the kind of clarity you'd find in still water on a clear winter morning. They're the most sought-after stones we carry, and for someone set on nothing less than the finest, nothing else compares. They cost more, accordingly.
-
Signature
Where most of our couples end up, and it's easy to see why. These diamonds bring the same brilliant, luminous sparkle you'd expect from our finest stones — bright, radiant and unmistakably fine. It's the sweet spot: exceptional beauty at a price that leaves room for a bigger stone, a more personal setting, even multiple stones.
-
Coastal
These diamonds carry a rich, sun-warmed glow and plenty of character. Set in yellow gold especially, they take on a luminous, golden radiance that's entirely their own — bright, warm and full of presence. This collection is for anyone drawn to a distinctive stone with real depth, and the room to go bigger or more custom along the way.

How Do I Know if I Made the Right Diamond Choice?
To start, there is no wrong answer when working with Cove as we are not only hand selecting stones, but specifically choosing stones for your ring.
We always ask our clients what is most important to them, is it color or carat size? From there, we can better determine which diamond is best.
One more thing worth knowing: how a diamond is cut usually matters more to its sparkle than its color does.

Why Cove?
Every Cove ring is designed with a sense of place, inspired by the coast, handcrafted by master artisans in New York City’s Diamond District and only using solid precious metals and ethically sourced and produced stones, guided by our founder’s eye as a master jeweler.
It's also why we exist: to bridge the gap between the freedom of shopping online and the personal touch of working with a jeweler. You get the ease of browsing on your own time, without giving up the guidance of someone in your corner.
It's also how we do diamonds differently. Instead of handing you a loose stone and a grading report to decode on your own, we curate color into three collections — Heritage, Signature and Coastal. Expert judgment and a sense of place, built in from the start, not left for you to figure out.
We've talked about cut as a grade of quality — how well a stone is faceted to catch the light. But "cut" is also shorthand for shape, and that's a decision that's where your personal style leads.
A few of our favorites...
-
Round
Classic and always in style. Round diamonds have the most facets, and with them, the most sparkle. If you want timeless, this is it.
-
Oval
Elongated and graceful, an oval can give the illusion of a larger stone while keeping a delicate, refined feel.
-
Emerald
A long, rectangular shape with step-cut facets. Understated, elegant, and a favorite among those drawn to vintage style.
Still Not Sure?
